A dusty piece of history

For the first time, I noticed this huge brass plaque on the wall at Churchgate, next to the ladies loo, where the steps to the subway begin. It's a dirty, filthy plaque and God knows why it caught my eye today - perhaps a strong gust of breeze blew away some of the grime. It's quite a large plaque and it commemorates the inauguration of the station by Morarji Desai in 1956 (But surely Churchgate and its services have been around for longer?) Intriguing. Must take a closer look at it sometime. If you see someone standing and staring at a grimy wall at churchgate during rush hour - well, that would be me.

Indian Railways (or India, for that matter) should really maintain its heritage with a little more love and care. When do we start feeling pride about our history?
