Surviving India

This may be the way that some of the world sees us.

Read it only if you are the kind that can listen to someone else's opinion and are able to walk away knowing that everybody is entitled to their own opinions based on their experiences. It's very subjective.

See : http://www.moxon.net/india/surviving_india.html

And http://www.moxon.net/india/opinions_of_india.html

And then there's http://www.moxon.net/india/mandu.html. Takes away any bad feelings so far :)

Any more travel tales around? Share them!

  1. All i have to say mumbaiwallah is that you should live in the western world. Hope to bring up a family with all the values your parents imbibed in you.

I can assure you one thing....if you have children and bring them up in the western world this is what you can expect by age 14 and i am not exaggerating.

    1) Had sex at least once.
    2) Thought about getting her buttocks enhanced (if she has not done her breasts already).
    3) Children born to the westerners land up living with people who are not their bilogical parents because of the string of divorces....the list is endless.

Dont thrive on putting your country down. Seriously...there is a lot that the rest of the world can learn from India. Like how women continue to stay in marriages that are unsuccessful just because of the children. Continue to travel in trains (cleaning veges on the way home - i am sure you have seen that), work their butt off only to return home to a drunken husband and continue to care for their children inspite of all. Still at the end of the day elders are given respect and again here the list is endless....

There are reasons why India is in the state it is today. Illiteracy and over-population....yet remember we have achieved a lot most other countries can only hope to. I would still say there is room for improvement but give India a break.

We have achieved a lot, Have a long way to go! Chill!

  2. @Anonymous: Sigh. You obviously either don't read what I have to say properly, or I'm not getting what I want to say across. Anyway.

And I'm glad that there are many people out there who don't see the glory in coming back home to a drunken husband or stay in unsuccessful marriages because they have no other choice or because we live in a society that looks down upon women who chose to leave their husbands no matter how nasty they are. It's NOT something to be proud of. But then again, you and I have never had the same views about anything at all.

    Have a good life.

  3. I think you dont read what i write. :-) when i speak about women continuing in loveless marriages i talk about a sacrifice that women make in india for their CHILDREN. Its got nothing to do with the MAN. Dont you get it? DUH!!!! Helloooooooo!!!!! The man deserves to be dumped in an instant. BUT the children DONT deserve to suffer in the bargain!!! thats the difference between women from the west and indian women.....among other differences....but we are not talking only about indian women are we? we are talking about what India represents as a whole. these were just few examples.

Please do not go off track...stick to the general topic.
