So long and thank you for the fish..
The movie version of Douglas Adam's Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is great fun to watch - even for people who haven't yet read the book (but will be sure to soon, I think!). With a PG rating, the theatre was full of kids, small and big. The film was quite entertaining, although I'm not sure whether the book was accurately captured on screen or not. It's been quite a while since I last read it, maybe it's time to pick it up again on my next trip to the library..

We got back from Hitchhiker and watched the superb Mr and Mrs Iyer on video. I have already seen it a couple of times before , but gave Mr.R company. Konkana Sen is an amazing actress, her Tamil accent sounds so genuine, like she's been talking the language forever. Hope to see more of her soon. The characters are finely etched - the terrorists, the creepy men - co-passengers in an ill-fated bus, the police... people you meet everyday, around every corner. There's someone you recognise in every character, and that's scary....

A favorite fantasy of mine is that I'm really not from this planet. It's a thought I've harboured for many, many years. There are days when I feel it strongly and I'm convinced of life other than here. Perhaps it's just a ruse, a ploy to reassure myself that there is a world that's better, nicer, warmer than here. There just HAS to be. Hitchhiker reminded me of what it could be like, to leave the blue planet and go back home. Maybe someday I will. Maybe someday......
