...Always take the weather with you...
It is the middle of September. My calendar tells me British SummerTime ends on October 30 (and the clocks turn back), but I'm sure someone somewhere has got the date wrong. My bones and the general drop in temperature warn that Autumn is already around the corner, if not already here. Over the weekend, the sun has vanished, leaving behind cloudy days, dry with a constant threat of rain and plummeting degrees. The woolens are back. And so are the running noses and sore throats.
Mr R and I have both been nursing really bad colds over the weekend. He gets it from his patients and then passes it on to me!
Someone once said that when people have nothing to say, they talk about the weather. In England however, this is more than just a conversation filler. The daily climate changes with such unpredicatability that talking about it is the only way to feel reassured that you are not the only one confused by the rapid changes. And plus, you will never be at a loss for words with this topic; not here at least!
Now you know why my blog so often features the British weather. Perhaps it is because it affects me so much - especially when temperatures fall and I long for sunshine, or perhaps it is because I have nothing else to talk about today...Hmmm...

On the other hand, the other-than-the-blog-writing is going great guns (where did that expression come from, anyway?!)
A new online travel magazine debuting in October has accepted an article from me for publication. Then , I have just learnt that I have been accepted to be a mentor for young writers on http://mentoring.absynthemuse.com, a site that connects young writers (ages 13-22) to experienced writers. There is an application process, details of which are on the site. If you are a writer and want to help young writers with their work or just lend some support, fill in the online form.
