Rev Chad Varah, founder of Samaritans dies

24 hours of living with a sudden loss of our Internet connection reminded me of how dependent we are on the blue wire. A 29 minute call to AOL (more on that later) seems to have resolved the problem this morning.

Noticing the 'alive' DSL light on the modem, I signed on with glee, only to hear the news that the founder of Samaritans, Dr Chad Varah has died at 95. It's a great loss to an organisation that, in my opinion, makes the difference between life and death to many. I am proud to have been a part of Samaritans and carry on, in my own way, the legacy of Rev Varah.

Read the obituary here.
