Just a click away

Our short course in photography came to an end. It was an enriching experience, for sure. A lot of the things about the camera have started to make sense, and I'm looking at photographs in a different light, literally.

It's fascinating - this world of light and shadow. Suddenly, opportunities for spectacular photos are everywhere around me. The camera's going to see a lot more action now. Maybe, I'll even substitute the notebook for a lens, who knows. :)

Belgium trip: Day 3 - Brugge

We spent Day 3 in Brugge, an hour's train ride from Brussels. Brugge is lovely - a romantic city full of narrow cobblestoned streets, quaint architecture and winding, flower-lined canals.

After a day of walking around and a boat ride, we met up with a friend of Mr.R's for dinner in the main square. There, we had tagliatelli and rabbit (not together!) and made conversation while the first heavy rain of the weekend fell around the Grote Markt.

If you're going to Belgium, I recommend a visit to Brugge.

The Daily Photos Series

I'm trying to catch up with my writing, so apologies for the lack of posts. In the meantime, I'm starting a series of Photo Posts (inspired by London Daily Photos).

These are all pics that I have taken. Hope you like them. Comments welcome :)

Drowning in images

I've asked this before, but because I've got 1000+ images from our trip to edit and share, SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!

With Yahoo! Photos now closed, what do you use to share your pictures? I use Photobucket but I've recently discovered that it doesn't allow sharing of individual albums - share one and all albums are visible. Yikes.

What are the alternatives, then?

Kodak - you get emails after 12 months asking you to make a purchase to keep your account active, or is that just for me?

Flickr - too public for my liking. Is there a private option?

Snapfish - no personal experience.

What else?

Any suggestions are highly welcome!

Online photo sharing

With Yahoo! Photos closing down, where have you moved all your pictures? I've moved mine to Photobucket at the moment, but have realised that they don't allow sharing of individual folders. Which means that sharing one folder shares everything else. Not good.

What are the other options? Any recommendations?

Going..Going...

Yahoo! Photos is closing down on September 20th 2007 (so that they can focus on Flickr).

If you've got pics there, login to your account and migrate (free) to any one of the five services offered : Flickr, Snapfish, Photobucket, Shutterfly and Kodak Gallery).

I have a Photobucket account, so that's where it's all going. Kodak Gallery is free, but after 12 months, they start to send you emails saying that you must buy something from them in a year to keep the account active... Flickr is public. Don't want my pics out there for every body to see... No prior experience with Snapfish and Shutterfly.

Cherry Blossom Tree: Following the seasons

An update on this lovely Japanese Cherry Blossom.

Last week of April 2007 - all gone...

April 2007 - What brings me joy

This is the first time I think I've seen the tree bloom. In the first week of April, the first buds began to appear. In a matter of days both trees were heaving with clumps of stunning pink blooms, the bronze leaves barely visible in the riot.

It's the 20th of April today and the tree is moving into the next phase. The buds are starting to fall apart, littering the street with a gentle pink carpet. The broze leaves have turned green and soon the pink blooms will all be gone and the tree will be back to the September 2006 version.

Watch this space :)

Who's looking at whom?

This photo of this beautiful tiger was taken at London Zoo last Sunday. The big cats were majestic in their stillness, their quiet watchful gaze lulling the visitors into a false sense of gaiety. I wondered what he was thinking..."You look like a yummy morsel..", perhaps.

And then the day ends...

Two pictures I took on Tuesday of a memorable sunset. Mr R was at his rehearsal and missed it. The view is from my living room window on the second floor. No editing of colors was involved :)
