Out of body experiences and early morning biryani.

Yesterday evening I scared myself to death. I think I had an out-of-body-experience. I did something that I normally only think of doing, yet never had the courage (foolishness?) or the inclination to put my foot in hot water. Before I lose track of what I'm saying, here's what happened. Some of you might think I'm bonkers, but well, after yesterday, I agree.

I stopped a BEST bus yesterday evening. Stopped not as in put-a-hand-out-and-waved-to-the-driver-stopped, but rather a dont-move-till-I-tell-you-stopped. I was already in the bus yesterday when two guys jumped ahead of a queue at the next stop and occupied seats. When they refused to move inspite of the conductor yelling at them, I, as they say, 'lost it'. I got up, walked upto them and made them give up their seats to people who were in the queue. It felt like it took ten minutes, but it was actually over in about 30 seconds. The people who got the seats looked puzzled and probably wanted to know why someone was offering them a seat but I politely explained that the seats were for people who were in the queue and you-do-want-to-sit-don't-you?!

It's so unlike me, that I'm actually worried about my mental wellbeing. It was not rage, nor anger that I felt at that time. When I think of it, I can't find a word accurate enough for what happened. For those 20-30 seconds, it was as if someone else had taken over from me. Someone who felt that enough was enough. Bus-stops are not decorations or obstructions on the pavements. They're meant for a purpose. And especially when you have fifty people patiently standing in a queue, there's just no excuse.

Am I out of control? Am worried, Am worried, Am worried. Today onwards I will sit in the 'Reserved' seats at the front of the bus so I don't notice what happens at the back. Will take a book and bury myself in it. And just close my eyes to what goes on. And say to myself :It's not my battle, It's not my battle....

This morning I awoke to the wonderful sound of pouring rain and funnily enough,to the smell of biryani! At 0630? Turned out that the biryani was from my phone. A text from Mr.R waited patiently to be read, describing the menu that he had come up with for his little dinner with friends. Biryani, chicken in white wine sauce sounds terrific but I would have been totally content with just the strawberries and cream. Yum!

  1. Polymorphic Operator (http://www.weBLOGic.rediffblogs.com) : I can understand your fury @ those blokes. Some people love to defy rules for the heck of it... and there's only so much that a person can take. I'm sure the offenders won't forget the dressing down you gave them. Take care. Your posts continue to weave the same magic. :)

  2. Thanks PO. Those blokes may not forget it, but I will certainly behave myself in future. Sat like a good girl yest.evening right in the front and stayed out of trouble. My mom's BP remains in the 200's till I reach back home safely without making a public nuisance of myself!

  3. You have a fairly good command on language. Associated with academics by any chance?
