The first MW awards!

Please send in your nominations for the first annual Mumbaiwallah awards :

  • The Worst stretch of road in the city : (Nomination) - the stretch from Magothane Depot, Borivili East to Malad, TOI junction. Potential rally drivers take a look - will make for great practice. Statutory warning to those with back problems or spondylosis.
  • The Worst maintained railway station (Nominations) : Bombay Central, Malad
  • The best maintained railway station (Nominations) : none so far
  • The best place to drive in Mumbai (Nominations) : Pune expressway :) No, seriously, it should be, ummm....mmmm, hmmmm, sorry can't think of any right now.
  • The looks-like-LA-but-for-the-hutments award (Nominations) : The Bandra-Kurla complex with its roads, palms trees, gardens and glass buildings; the completed stretch of the Bandra-Worli sea link.
  • The best maintained heritage structure in the city (Nominations) : None. All are badly maintained.
  • The worst maintained heritage structure in the city (Nominations) : Mandapeshwar Caves, Borivili. Is now a make-shift temple. No details about the site or what it's about. Two rude guys sit there and instruct you to remove your shoes before entering. And thats the end of conversation. Bat droppings. Stinks.
  • The best maintained public space in the city (Nominations) : Joggers Park, Bandra (It's pay and use, therefore the maintenance); The promenade at Bandstand - Carter Road.
