Watch out for the flying ones!

To commemorate J R D Tata's pioneering work in the field of aviation and 50 years of Air Marshal S Mukherjee assuming charge as the first Indian Chief of Air Staff, the Indian Air Force will hold for the first time a spectacular air show on October 17 over Marine Drive in South Mumbai.

For the first time in the city, the IAF will showcase their fighter aircraft - MiG-29, MiG 21 and MiG 27, Sukhois, Jaguars and Mirage 2000 - in the 90-minute air show.

Air-India on its part will also fly its Airbus A310 and a Boeing 747 at 1,000 feet height along with two Sukhois with the IAF's Surya Kiran signing off with an aerobatic show, Air Marshal Satish K Jain, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Air Command, told newspersons here today.

Also included in the ambit of the greatest ever show in the city would be the recently acquired IL-78 flight refueller aircraft demonstrating its capability by mid-air refuelling of two Sukhois, he added.
