The eagle has landed :)
The traffic was congested on land and now on air too. The flight hovered over Mumbai airport for over thirty minutes waiting for clearance to land. Once the other planes got out of our way, we descended onto terra firma and beloved Mumbai welcomed us with a (very) sunny smile.
Mr.R and I are down for a brief visit for Easter. We’re dividing our time between Mumbai and Goa – with our respective families. I see that a two state relationship is not going to be very easy, but since this is the first time, I’m sure we can work out amicable solutions.
Mumbai hasn’t changed in the last two months. The airport is the same. The officials are the same. There’s work on a new terminal building going on. We book a pre-paid taxi to avoid the hassle of haggling with a cabbie over luggage charges etc. The taxi allotted to us could have been from Mohenjo-daro, or atleast it looks that old. An antique fiat, the seats are torn, the doors are rickety and one can see through the dashboard into the engine. The driver is a young chap who takes his own time to get started. We finally set off, showing the challan to a traffic policeman who is loudly berating another cabbie for something. Ah, Mumbai. We’ve missed you.
It’s good to be back home and taste my mother’s cooking. Home cooked food has its own amazing flavors that can’t be store bought. Mr.R and I haven’t yet got the culinary expertise to cook that well, but I’m sure that with time, we’ll beat Sanjeev Kapoor yet.
