One more thing to worry about

I've spent a sleepless night; and there's just one person to blame.

Laloo Yadav is the new Minister for Railways. He looks very pleased with his new portfolio, but I'm not sure if the millions who travel on Indian Railways are going to be as happy. I'd have preferred Govinda to Laloo. What can we expect from this new minister? For a moment, fast forward to next February and imagine the man presenting the rail budget and you'll know what I mean. Can you visualise for a minute, Mr.Yadav standing and reading out, in his very characteristic ish-style, what will ultimately determine the fate of us hapless commuters? I can't! Which means that either the new Govt will not last till February or this scene is too horrific to even dream of!

Can we expect a man who has ruled Bihar for so long (and successfully managed to keep it the way it was in the 1900's) to actually make a difference? We might see more trains being diverted towards Bihar and some concessions for Mr.Yadav's family, friends and cattle; but at this point in time, my vision of his competence is extremely short-sighted. Our safety, security, well-being and our lives ultimately, are in the hands of this man. And that worries me immensely!

What other portfolio could he have been given instead? Home, Defence, Civil Aviation, Food, Agriculture, Petroleum, Travel and Tourism? Eeks! With every ministry named, my blood pressure falls a little more - perhaps a major national disaster has been averted by assigning him Railways; we'll just have to deal with minor disasters for the term of this government. Dr.Singh and Mrs.G have their hands full with this one!

Sigh. The price one pays for keeping the BJP out of power. Govinda, where are you?!
